Jones Duke Tennyson (also known as Jon), passed away January 7, 2012. Jon was born October 14, 1935 in Vernon, Texas to Verna and Pearl Tennyson. Jon grew up all over the country following his mother whom worked around the states as an occupational therapist for the Veterans Administration. After all the moving around, he found his way to where he felt his home was in Fort Worth, TX. Jon met the love of his life Carolyn while attending Texas Christian University and married her in 1965. While pursuing his career as an insurance broker in the oil industry, he eventually made one final move to Houston, TX in 1971, where he and Carolyn would settle and begin raising their son and daughter, Kyle and Kathryn. Jon retired in the 80’s and began spending his time assisting and leading several organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, groups at his church at Westbury Church of Christ, as well as coaching youth in several sports venues. Jon is survived by his wife, Carolyn; son, Kyle; daughter, Kathryn; and three grandchildren, Jason Jr., Kailyn and Zachary. Visitation will be held at 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Westbury Church of Christ, 10424 Hillcroft, Houston, TX 77096. A Committal Service will take place at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2012 at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Worth, TX. |
