Marylee E. Smith Donovan

Marylee Donovan passed away August 15, 2017 in Houston, TX. She was born July 14, 1942 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to Raymond and Viola Smith. She went to North High School in Des Moines, IA and graduated college at what is now known as University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Marylee spent most of her adult life in Houston, TX, Bajamar, MX and Weimar, TX.
While in Houston, she taught school at Jane Long Middle School, in Bajamar she was involved in the Baja Scholarship Foundation and for her short time in Weimar, Marylee was involved in Encore Lions Club, Catholic Daughters, Friends of the Library and Red Hatter’s Society.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; brother, Richard; godson, Steven; and numerous brother- and sister-in-laws and nephews. She is survived by her son, Barry Donovan and wife, Elisa of Houston; daughter, Brenda Zotter and husband, Joe of Canyon; grandchildren, Brittany, Sam, Caden, Marcus, Ben, Meredith and Curtis; brother, Tom Smith; brother-in-law, Paul Donovan and wife, Liz; fellow adventurer, Al Sauter; godchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and former students she loved dearly.
A Rosary will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 8200 Roos Rd, Houston, TX 77036 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 2:00 p.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
