Spencer A. Chamblee, Jr., 89, of Houston, died at his home on December 8, 2011 six days short of his 90th birthday celebration. Spencer was born December 15, 1921 in Houston to Spencer and Elsie Chamblee. He is a 1939 graduate of Milby High School. Spencer proudly served on the USCGC Mojave during World War 2 as a LTJG. Spencer retired from the electrical trade in 1990. He worked 20 plus years for Hirsh Electric. Spencer received his 70-year Service Award from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local No. 716 earlier this year. Spencer is survived by his wife, Shirley DeLage Chamblee of Houston; sons, Richard and wife Janie Chamblee of Houston, Glen and wife Gayle Chamblee of Houston, and Donald and wife Dr. Socorro Chamblee of McKinney; sister, Rene Exner of Colorado; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Committal Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2011 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously suggests that memorial contributions in Spencer’s name be made to their favorite charity. |
