Ann Marta Lilliedahl

Ann Marta Lilliedahl passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at the Bayou Manor Health Care Center. She was born on May 28, 1930, in Linkoping, Sweden. Her beloved parents, Dagmar and Sven Lilliedahl preceded her in death.
She is survived by special friends, Lotta Anderson, Marie Ringstrom, Lottie Freitag, Ruth Rybach, Mary Tobin, Carol Coats, Christina Velazquez, Astrid Marklund, and Becky Rohde.
Ann obtained a B.A. in English, M.A in English, and M.A. in German at the Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden. She did graduate work at Oxford University, England, University of Wurzburg, Wurzburg, Germany, and Sorbonne University in Paris, France. She also did special studies in American Literature at Rice University, Houston, Texas, and German Literature at Zurich University in Zurich, Switzerland. Ann earned her PhD in English at University of Houston in 1979. She became a Permanent Resident of the U.S. in Houston, Texas in 1968, and was employed as a Professor of English at Texas Southern University for many years. She was also a published author of books on Emily Dickinson and Henry James.
Ann's loves were traveling, art, classical music, and cats. She travelled extensively over the years, always most enjoying her trips back home to Sweden.
At her request, Ann will be cremated and her ashes returned to Sweden to be interred beside her parents in Linkoping.
