June E. Jones, affectionately known as “Nanny”, beloved mother, wife and grandmother passed away at the age of 86 in the arms of Christ the Lord surrounded by her loving family at home. Nanny was born in Sanford, Florida to David E Walker and Guelah Hildebrand, later moving to Monett, Missouri. There she would later meet the man of her dreams, Richard Jones, in her senior year in high school, fall in love, and marry, recently celebrating 65 years of wedded bliss. With Richard being an accountant with Shell Oil Company for 35 years they lived and traveled the US from Oklahoma, Colorado, California, and finally to Texas. Nanny would say she was not born in Texas but hurried here as fast as she could!

Nanny’s love for her family came first, and anyone who knew her quickly found her to possess a great sense of humor always sharing a smile and an encouraging word. She loved homemaking, the outdoors and gardening, especially roses. As an accomplished seamstress she sewed all three of daughter’s wedding dresses and upholstered furniture Nanny loved to volunteer especially as a Girl Scout leader and Sunday school teacher. Her son Rich remembers her to be both a basketball wizard and fisherman extraordinaire! Nanny was also known to play a mean game of gorilla-gorilla too!

June is survived by husband, Richard; daughter, Jennifer Howard; daughter and son-in law, Elizabeth and Sam Boswell; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Christopher Kapacinskas; son and daughter-in-law, Rich and Valerie Jones; grandsons, Josh Howard, Tony Dunham , Lucas Boswell, and Joseph Boswell; granddaughters, Marie Boswell, Lily Boswell, Natalia Kapacinskas, and Tiffany Dunham; and great-grandson Evan.

Per Nanny’s request a Christian Graveside Services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.

In lieu of flowers, Nanny requested that those desiring make a memorial contribution to Methodist Children’s Home, 1111 Herring Avenue, PO Box 5010, Waco, TX 76708-9989 or on-line at
