Gary Patrick PhilippiDecember 26, 1953 - December 09, 2011 Online Obituaries
On December 9, 2011 after a courageous battle with Liver Disease, Gary Philippi left us to join our Heavenly Father. He was born in Union, New Jersey and grew up in Chatham, New Jersey spending his summers at Barnegat Light on the New Jersey shore. After receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanueva University, he spent years working on nuclear power plants in New York, North Texas, Alabama, and Tennessee, finally settling in Houston, Texas where he worked on petro-chemical plants with various engineering firms. Because of his love of computers and technology, he began working for Bentley Systems as technical support and then Testing Manager for one of their engineering software programs. He loved his work and always enjoyed solving the most difficult of engineering problems. He leaves behind his loving wife of 20 years, Elizabeth K. Philippi, and his 14 year old son, John Patrick Philippi, and his 3 beloved Alaskan Malamutes. Sadly he also leaves behind his mother, Helen G. Philippi; father, Dr. Harry P. Philippi; brother, Brian Patrick Philippi and wife Josephine; sister, Laurie Caulin and husband William, all who live in New Jersey. He also is survived by his niece, Kelly C. O’Connell and husband Sean and their three children, Caiden, Declan, and Finnegan; nephew, William Caulin Jr., all residents of New Jersey; nephew, Brian Caulin and his wife Aleah of San Francisco; niece, Jessica Baldwin-Philippi of Chicago; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. We will all miss him terribly but know that he is now at peace. A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2011 in the Miller Funeral Chapel, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, TX 77074, with a reception to follow in the Miller Celebration of Life House. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously suggests that donations be made in Gary’s name to Methodist Hospital Foundation for the Liver Transplant Program; P.O. Box 4384, Houston, TX 77210. |
