Phillip Jeffrey Guilbeau, Ph.D., passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. Phillip was born in Port Arthur, TX on January 20, 1958. He is survived by his mother, Joann Greer; sister, Rachel Ellen Messina (Victor); brother, Matthew Charles Greer (Mari); nieces, Rebecca Lauren Messina, Julia Louise Messina, Emilie Chaison Greer, and Payton Gable Greer; Aunt Peggy Wright (Hugh); and cousins, Cynthia Stine (Herb); Cathi Coney (Kirk); Marq Locke (Marilyn) and Stephen Locke. Phillip is survived by Great Aunt Marie Louise Schexnailder (Joe) and Great Uncles Gus R. Breaux and Vernon Andrew Breaux (Cinny). He is preceded in death by his father, Paul McDonald Guilbeau and grandparents, Elia and Wallis Guilbeau and Linda Marie and Charles Warren Breaux. Phillip was a world traveler due to his ongoing research towards his Doctoral Dissertation on Medieval Art History at the University of Michigan. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc, Houston, TX 77024, with a Rosary 30 minutes prior. Family and friends are invited to his sister’s home after the service (maps will be in the narthex). The family wishes to thank Dr. Joan Bull, Dr. Jorge Quesada and Dr. Ana L. Leech who provided excellent and loving care during Phillip’s stay in Houston. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously suggests that contributions in Phillip’s name be made to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital, Palliative Care, c/o Dr. Ana L.
