Online Obituaries

Evonne Marie Lenertz went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2017 at the age of 79. For years, she battled Parkinson’s disease and dementia, and she passed peacefully in her sleep at home on Saturday morning. Her husband, Donald Lenertz, and her daughter, Dawn Lenertz preceded her in death. She leaves behind her daughter Pauline Torres and husband José Cooks; her son Joseph Lenertz and wife Monica; her daughter Debora Penland and husband Dru; and her daughter Janet Choisnet and husband Bill. She also leaves seven grandchildren: Francisca Carter, Vicente Torres, David Torres, Jason Penland, Joshua Penland, Samantha Penland, and Nicholas Cochran.

Evonne loved living. In her younger days, she and her husband went out dancing every week, and almost every day she rode her bicycle on the streets of Corpus Christi. She loved cooking her family big meals that always started with a fresh salad and ended with a sweet dessert. She liked sewing clothes for her daughters and creating beautiful embroidery work to decorate her home. She loved hunting for a bargain in the stores, and she regularly frequented yard sales. She often hosted visits with friends and family in her home, and she participated in many neighborhood cookout and fish fry get-togethers. She played bingo with friends weekly, and when she was not being social, she kept her mind active with puzzle books. She collected angels, sunflowers, and anything her children happened to be collecting at the time.
