May 01, 1932 - February 05, 2017
Lourdes Jimenez went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2017. She lived 84 wonderful years, creating lasting memories with those she loved. She looked forward to reuniting with her husband, Rodrigo, who went home ahead of her in 1997. Her parents, Amador and Raquel Perez, also preceded her in death. She leaves behind three children and six grandchildren; Lourdes, her husband, Manuel, and their children, Manuel and Samuel Aguilar; Rodrigo, his wife, Dana, and their children, Danny and Andrew Jimenez; and Raquel, her husband, Dirk, and their children, Emily and Ryan Cameron. Her brother Jorge and sister Raquel also survive her.
Tita began her life in Mexico City, Mexico on May 1, 1932. She grew up, went to school, and worked in Mexico City. She was working in the accounting department of Colgate Palmolive-Mexico when she met the love of her life, a recent dental school graduate from Colombia. They married on December 20, 1961 and moved to Colombia very soon after that. This would not be the last time Tita would leave familiar surroundings and loved ones for the sake of family. She spent the best years of her life in Villavicencio, Colombia, where she lived for 28 years. Although a very different place from the big city she was used to, she gained the love and respect of everyone around her. She loved Colombia and Colombia loved her. She was involved with the Garden Club, school boards, Rotary Club, and many other community activities. Most of all, she was a great mother to her children and a great source of encouragement and support for her husband.
Lourdes would change countries two more times for the sake of her family. She and her husband made the very difficult decision to leave Colombia in 1988 and move to Guadalajara, Mexico. Their plan was to live out their lives there, but that plan would change with Rodrigo’s death in 1997. After 12 fulfilling years in Guadalajara, she moved to Houston to be closer to children and grandchildren. Her primary focus during her 16 years in Houston was to love on her family, particularly her grandchildren! Lourdes loved the Lord, and her faith was strengthened by the teaching she received at Bethel Church, Harvest Bible Church, and Cypress Bible Fellowship. She demonstrated not just how a life is well lived, but how a life ends well when anchored in faith and obedience to God’s word. Each one of her grandkids has special memories with her, and they blessed her with wonderful messages of love and appreciation before she went to be with Jesus. She was thankful for that and for the love shown by so many, not just during her last days on this earth, but throughout her time in Villavicencio, Guadalajara, and Houston.
Our family wishes to express immense appreciation for the love and support of friends, family, doctors, nurses, and caretakers who made the last few weeks a special time for our mother. She went to be with the Lord in peace and ready to be with Him and with her beloved husband.
A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Bethel Church, 825 Bering Dr., Houston, TX 77057.
