Obituary for Bonnie Spain Ball

Bonnie Spain Ball, 98, passed away January 13, 2018 in Kingwood, Texas. Bonnie was born on December 13, 1919 in Middleburg, Ohio, where she spent many happy years on her family farm along with her brothers, Chalmer, Bill, and John; sister, Nita. Shortly after Pearl Harbor, Bonnie enlisted in the United States Army Nursing Corp and participated in “Operation Torch” during WWII and was stationed in North Africa and Italy. Her Army service was a great source of pride to her and she spoke often and passionately about “her brave wounded soldiers”! Bonnie was married for 60 years to Lt. Colonel James H. Ball, also a highly decorated veteran of WWII and Korea.

Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Jeannette and husband Stephen Cooke of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughters, Jennifer Cooke Belteau and husband Kevin of Lithia, Florida, Nicole Cooke Clay and husband Zac of Fort Worth, Texas and five great-grandchildren, Alec, Justin, Lucienne, Ashlyn, Ryan .

A private Memorial Service will be held by family members in Captiva, Florida at a later date.
