Obituary for Margaret Mary Lynch Morris

Margaret Mary Lynch Morris, 71 of Houston, Texas, passed away on February 19, 2018. Margaret was born on August 11, 1946 in Chicago, Ill. to Margaret (Peggy) and Edmond J. Lynch. She grew up in Dallas, Texas attending St. Pius X Catholic Church. In 1970, she graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. She then earned her graduate degree from the University of Houston in 1974, where she met her husband, Roger. They were married on July 8, 1972 in Dallas, Texas and spent the next 45 years together in Houston, Texas.

Margaret shared her love of education as a teacher for nine years before she stepped away from her career to raise her children and care for her ailing parents. She was able to return to teaching for a few years before retiring because of health issues. In the 1970s, Margaret sang in the St. Albert of Trapani Catholic Church choir. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, where she taught CCE for several years and served as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She also was a census taker for the Census Bureau. After spending a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with her family in 2012, Margaret suffered a debilitating stroke. Thank you to the staff at The Crescent Continuing Care Center for caring for Margaret in her final years.

Margaret will be remembered for her endless dedication to her family and kind heart. Her happiest moments were spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. Her soothing voice was a baby whisperer for young children who had the pleasure of being near her. She was always so kind to others and had something nice to share with family and friends whenever she visited with them.

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Roger Morris; sons, Andrew Morris (wife, Carrie Veilleux) and David Morris; grandchildren, Natalie, Zoe and Eli Morris; and sisters, Joan Bell (husband, Larry) and Frances Galway (husband, John); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Friday, March 9, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church Parish Hall, 10330 Hillcroft St, Houston, Texas 77096, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She will be interred at the Houston National Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her honor to the American Stroke Association
