Obituary for Calvin George Pickard

Calvin George Pickard, 93, died May 2, 2019 in Houston, TX. He was born on April 14, 1926 in Fairbury, NE. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Shirley Rae Pickard, his parents, Laverne and Inez Pickard; sister, Tillie Arnold; brother, Keith Pickard; and numerous friends.
He is survived by his daughter, Paula Pickard Ellis and her husband Mike; his son, Jeffery Scott Pickard and his wife Jeanne; and several nieces and nephews.
Calvin served in the Pacific during World War II. He loved his many rescue greyhounds and railroad collection, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and always had time to help someone. He was a good husband, father and friend to all.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Miller Funeral Chapel, 7723 Beechnut Street, Houston TX 77074. A Graveside Service will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 12:45 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
