Obituary for William Paul Samoheyl

William Paul Samoheyl, 69, left this life and went to heaven on Monday, August 13, 2018, at his home in Houston following a bout with terminal cancer.

Paul leaves behind his wife, Marla (Selph) Samoheyl; his 3 children and their spouses, Ryan and Lea Samoheyl; Blake and Jennifer Samoheyl; and Paige and Ryan Nowak. He is also survived by his 7 wonderful grandchildren, Alyssa, Juliana, Riley, Avery, Aiden, Cash, and Ryder; his niece and nephews, Michael Paul Verner, Lisa Verner-Stevison, and Frankie Verner, and their families; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.J. and Genevieve Samoheyl, and his siblings Frankie Samoheyl and Merilynn “Lynnie” Verner.

Paul was born on May 19, 1949, in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Houston and attended Mount Carmel Catholic School for his first 12 years of education and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s in English. Prior to starting his own business, Landon Consultants (where he changed the lives of hundreds of people by finding them jobs), he worked at Foley’s, and he played in the band “CAPTR” which had one top 40 hit “Cindy Now I’m A Soldier”. He married his wife, Marla, in 1977, and they purchased their first house in Houston before moving to Atlanta. While in Atlanta, they had their two boys, and then reunited with family in Houston, where their daughter was born. Paul was more proud of his children and grandchildren than anything else in the world, and he was delighted to see his three children marry and start families of their own. Paul always enjoyed working out and continued to work out on a regular basis through the last week of his life.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Miller Celebration of Life House, 7723 Beechnut, Houston, Texas, 77074, on Saturday August 18, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., followed by visiting and light refreshments.
