Margaret Tobin Monie Cox, age 73, died peacefully on December 9, 2017 after a brief struggle with Pancreatic Cancer. Monie was born July 7, 1944 in Ithaca, New York, the daughter of William J. Tobin, Jr., and Margaret C. Tobin, and the sister of William J. Tobin, III, (Tobe).

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melville B. Tim Cox; mother, Margaret C. Tobin; and father, William J. Tobin, Jr.

Monie leaves three children to cherish her memory, Jeffrey Thomas Cox, Cassandra Cox McBryde, Christopher Patrick Cox and his wife Hillary Lisa Cox; five grandchildren, Cullen Cox, Logan Solio, Connor McBryde, Jaci Cox, and Brooklyn Cox; she also leaves her brother, William J. Tobin, III and his wife Marjorie; along with many nieces and nephews.

Monie was a 1962 graduate of Ursuline Academy in Bethesda, Maryland. She attended The University of Maryland before marrying the one and only love of her life, Melville B. Tim Cox in 1965. Monie and Tim lived from coast to coast, raising their children, for 46 years before his passing in 2011.

Monie had an uncanny ability to reach people in a way that made them feel like they had known her forever. Her great wit and sass made it easy for her to never meet a stranger.

Although longing for the time she would be reunited with her adoring husband, Monie truly lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed the simple pleasures; traveling with her best friends Jim and Johnna Dieleman, hanging on the back patio with her dogs, Knight and A.J., chatting away with friends and neighbors, playing Sudoku, shopping and dinner with her friends Bill and Carol Drawe, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and her adored in-laws, Stephen Norton, Bruce Voyer and Kim Voyer.

Monie was a fun-loving, GiGi, who formed dynamic relationships with each of her grandchildren filled with warmth, care, and a lot of love. She adored her grandson Cullens laid-back personality and loved watching football with him. She was truly proud of the many accomplishments Logan was making in ROTC, while readying himself for the United States Marine Corp. She was in awe and believed that, There was simply nothing her grandson, Connor couldnt do, as he excelled in sports and academics. Jaci came into her life next and was the granddaughter she had always longed for. Jaci could absolutely match her Gigis wit, and they loved getting their nails done together. She would spend many cherished hours playing Barbie and coloring with her youngest granddaughter, Brooklyn, forming a special bond that will forever be admired and never broken.
