Suzanne Terrell Howze passed away on December 4, 2017 in Houston, Texas after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her spouse of 48 years, James Eugene Howze; parents, Pearl Free and James Claiborne Terrell; sisters, Janis Terrell Copenhaver and Rose Terrell Lewis; brother, James (Scotty) Claiborne Terrell Jr; and nephews, David Lewis and Terrell Copenhaver.

Suzanne was born on August 2, 1941 in Alexandria, Louisiana but grew up in Leesville. She attended Louisiana State University, where she joined the Alpha Delta Phi Sorority. In 1963 she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education. In 1967 Suzanne married Jim Howze. She and her husband lived in El Paso, where they were members of the Square Dance Club and served as Skippers (co-presidents) of the Mariners Club at Meneely Presbyterian Church. They later moved to Houston where Suzanne taught at Kate Bell Elementary School. In her last years at Kate Bell Suzanne enjoyed teaching Computer Technology.

Suzanne and her husband Jim shared a love for music and American History. They attended countless performances and traveled the country visiting the sites of our nations formative events. Suzanne was passionate about Charles Schulzs comic strip Peanuts, and she collected hundreds of Peanuts items. At Christmas her home was a wonderland of Peanuts decorations. Her home was also graced with many of Suzannes own cross stitch creations. Suzanne and Jim were long-time members of St. Pauls United Methodist Church in Houston, where they took an active role in promoting childrens programs at Grace United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg, Russia. Suzannes family and friends will miss her vivacious and enthusiastic spirit, her unfailing good humor, and her ready laugh.

She is survived by nieces and nephews, Carol Copenhaver Boyle, Zachary Majed Matar, Ruth Ann Abrams, John Lewis, Karen Lewis, Juanita Self, Teresa Chang, John Howze, John Howze III, Kelly Plowman, and Karen Rogan; as well as sisters-in-law, Glenda Howze and Dorothy Turner.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Wanda Johnson and all the family and friends who supported her during her long illness.
