Jonathan Tyler “Jon” Hughes, age 32, finished his fight with cancer and gained his angel‘s wings on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land. He was born October 2, 1985 in Houston, to Leslie “Les” Hughes and Wendy (Bonuelos) Sorsoleil. He was a 2004 graduate of Kempner High School in Sugar Land. He married the love of his life, Jennifer Mango, on November 4, 2017, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He worked as a shore-side tanker man for American Commercial Lines, where he displayed a tireless work ethic and commitment to the safety of those around him. Jon lived a life of joy and laughter. He never met a stranger and made it his personal mission to put a smile on the face of everyone he came in contact with, each and every day. He loved fishing, cooking outside on his smoker, and all sport’s teams from the City of Houston. Jon deeply loved his wife, their dachshund Sweet Pea, his family, and friends (of which he had many). His generosity, kindness, and sense of humor have profoundly affected all those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, David Bonuelos; and uncle, Danny Hughes. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer; parents, Wendy and Kreg Sorsoleil, Les and Trina Hughes; brothers, Houston Delyea, Jacob Sorsoleil and Jeremy Hughes; sisters, Jeanelle Hughes and Nikki Smith; grandparents, Jean Jones and partner Judith Leib, Chief Master Sergeant Bobby C. Hughes (Ret.) and Mary J. Hughes, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service in celebration of Jon’s life at the First United Methodist Church in Sugar Land on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10:00 am with a reception to follow.
